Easter 2007

This past Easter was somethingnew for me. I spent it with the boyfriend's family ( and lots of it) and not home in Abilene. Normally I would have gone home for Easter but since I now work on Saturdays that wasn't the best option for me.

Luckily I am dating a fabulous man who has a killer family. It is somewhat of a cross between the movies of: The Family Stone, Chevy Chase Christmas Vacation and Meet The Fockers. It was insane to say the least.

It all began with Dinner Thursday night and didn't end until Sunday around 6pm. His family not only made me laugh and fed me tons of great food but welcomed me with open arms. I have known his parents for some time (actually longer than I have known him - his mom set us up!!) And I knew his two sisters somewhat too but this weekend in brought in Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, Step Cousins etc..... and don't forget the dogs.... Java Bean, Lucy and of course Harley.

Here are just a few of the many pics that I have...... We have much better pics too bad they weren't on my camera!!!

Ashton (his nephew) pushed me.....
D explaining to Ashton how a Pez dispenser opens

Lucy found her own egg!!! And No she doesn't share either.... ask Harley!

D's sister Leslie and Ashton. She gave him a punk rocker look

Ashton gave me hugs after we dyed eggs. Can you say adorbale??

This boy loves to take pictures.... and what a ham!!

Pappa and Cousin Hannah

D carved the ham.... beats truck stop food any day... too bad they didn't have a ice cream machine!

Ashton hunted for Eggs

D and Harley.... he really does like her....

Soooo not a good picture but you get the idea.....

And last but not least ..... Ashton and I snuggling.

Thanks to the fabulous new boyfriend I have internet service at home now so I can actually update this thing.

I have now been at my new job 2 months and love it. I work for a lighting company working with builders, designers and retail customers. We do everything from reading the take offs to picking the designs and trouble shotting as the installation goes on. I love the new job and can't wait until April 23rd when we open the new showroom in South Arlington.

I have a new No I did Not meet him on match.com but through his mom and so far it is fabulous.... but for a bit longer I care to keep the details to myself.... just don't want to jonx anything.......

Airport and Killing Time

I am SOOOOOOOOOOO Bored! I am sitting in the airport waiting for my next flight. Yup.... this stinks....

Yesterday....

Yesterday was suppose to be a ski day for Dad and I but thanks to a big storm that came through that didn't happen. We spent the morning drinking coffee and each of us with our own books and taking turns on my laptop. It kinda felt like fruit basket turn over.... if you got up you would lose your chair! Dad made us biscuts for breakfast and then Mom made Taco's for lunch.

But by 2 pm we were all a bit stir crazy and needed to get out of the cabin. The only problem it turned out was navigating the stairs and the foot and half of powder snow you sunk into while walking as Mom found out when she fell face first.

And because I am such a good daughter I stoped and took pictures instead of helping her up. Now she will tell you that I am leaving out a fall story from the day before but because this is my blog I can chose to share other people's embarassing falls and moments and not my own! That is the beauty of being the author of the blog.

Then it was off to the flea market where we wandered around other people's junk for an hour. Mom did find some $3.00 sunglasses though.... in the kids section

And even tried on some sunglasses to practice for when she is 90, driving and blind. Dad thought these were really sexy!

The snow fell all day long and was so pretty. This is Mom and Dad downtown. Look at the size of those snow flakes!

And since we had already done the flea market, a book store, a shop where we would never be able to even afford a pen, a coffee shop we finally ended up at Farley's! It is a local food and pool place.

I found out my dad is not only a pool shark but a very ungracious winner!

On the way back to the cabin dad thought it would be best if we played follow the leader and walked in his big steps so there was no more falling.....

Then the rest of our night was spent ........................

Yea...I don't think I will come home....

From Yesterday

We drove up to Inn Of The Mountain God's yesterday and it was so pretty and calm. Huge snow flakes were falling and here is the view from the resort over looking the lake.

Daddy and I

I look like I belong to him, don't I???

By the time we got back to our cabin a storm was blowing in.....

Last night a storm hit so bad they have closed the road up to the ski mountain so it looks like no skiing for Dad and I today......

Doe A Deer.... A Female Deer....

Mom and dad told me that I might to see some deer outside the cabin but I hadn't expected it. But that all changed yesterday morning. I opened the blinds to my bedroom window and looking back at me was this!!!!!!!!!!!!

I yelled for Mom and dad to come look and before we know it there was a whole family of deer outside my bedroom windown. We even made noise and they still didn't scare off!

This is taken through the screen window of my bedroom. They just stood there starring. It was amazing. I have never seen one, much less that many, up so close before.

Here is Mom's head..... and three deer.

Later we went to leave the cabin and they were out front so dad got the deer feed out and fed them...

I wish I knew what this one was thinking.....

Is this not cool???

Here you can see how close they were to our cabin. I am telling you it was unreal.

I have more pics to come later.... but it is Taco lunch time for me!

Maybe I won't come home afterall...... I could get really use to this!

Ski Apache

Sorry it has been a while. I will keep this short - I am in New Mexico with may fabulous parents at a ski cabin and couldn't be happier. I am sitting in a huge ever stuffed chair, looking out a large picture window at the mountains covered in snow and drinking my coffee. Since I had a week off in between jobs my parents were kind enough to let me join them on their trip. I will fly to Midland on Thursday and pick up my car , drive to Abilene, pick up Harley (Uncle Bo is dog sitting Harley and Bullett for us), Then get up Friday morning and return to Arlington. That way mom and dad can enjoy a couple of days here alone.

I can't tell you how much I needed this. Just to get away from it all, not keep stressing and worrying about things I can't change, to be hugged - cuddled and loved on but most of all to find a new happy place.

My happy place is covered in snow.... bundled in a blanket with my family near by.

What would you give to go back to that one moment in time when you were your happiest and at peace?

Snow Days

So cold weather has hit finally hit Texas! Earlier this week we didn't open the office until 11 am and then yesterday the office was closed all day long! I have always said that I love "Snow days". Sleeping until noon and then waking to a white bliss outside! Yesterday was that same feeling until about 3 pm.

All of a sudden it hit me..... Snow days aren't quite as much fun alone! Harley and I spent the day bundled up in blankets and catching up on old movies and Tivo but it just wasn't the same. These are the days I miss the X the most. Someone that is next to you on the couch watching that same old movie with you, drink hot chocolate and just enjoying the day off together. I even broke down and asked the ex boyfriend to hang out.... BIG MISTAKE. Because when his answer was that he was busy that only amplified that alone feeling I was having.

So I learned snow days are nice.... but snow days shared are better.
